Take a Damn Break

If your eyes gravitated to this post title on Twitter, LinkedIn, or wherever else you saw this, your body is giving you a sign. It’s time for some rest. 

I’m all for working till your fingers and eyes bleed. I get it. I understand it. I live it.

It seems to be part of the communications lifestyle. But you can only go so long until your non-stop workaholism becomes more a detriment than something propelling you forward.

Focus and creativity are muscles. And like any muscle, they can be overworked if you’re not careful, even for the top-performing athletes. Overworked muscles don’t come back stronger—they come back weaker.

Here’s Some Strategy

Looking for a strategy? Use rest as a strategy every once in a while. Take that mental health day. Take a night to go relax with friends instead of catching up on emails. Use your Saturday morning to grab a delightful breakfast or catch up on your favorite Netflix show.

One day every once in a while is all you need.

You’ll come back feeling refreshed, rejuvenated and creative.

Now go on, you gladiator in a suit. Go get some rest. You earned it. You deserve it.
